Default Alternative to sub - Bass Shakers

I was surprised to actually find a few threads on these on the board.

You bassheads might not agree, but I think these are a pretty good alternative to a big sub box, especially considering the space requirements (almost none). I've been a proponent of these for a while- and I've finally gotten around to getting a set of Aura's Bass Shaker Pros in the car:

I've done a complete writeup of the install including drawings of the brackets I made. If any of the rest of you have put these in and came up with another mounting method, I'd love to see what you have.

I used to have a set of some cheesey ones in my old Prelude, up in the seatback. Oddly enough, they were about as effective as these are:

I absolutely love these. I have the Pros right now being fed with a Soundstream 604 (two channels of it, at least). The Soundstream is working hard, it's being fed a strong signal from the head and I've got some boost down around 40Hz.

I took a much easier route. Take out the seat flip it over. Take that copper holder for the leather out that is in the middle. Next tak the biggest hammer you can find. Place the shaker where it should go......see how it hits that center point? Well WHACK IT WITH THE HAMMER! Place shaker on seat screw down and put seat back in.

DONE!!!!!!!

Awsome compliment to the 12" I have in back. Though even if you had a small sub to reproduce the bottom end the shakers on the seat like that make it seem like its much bigger!

marcucci,

I completely agree about the Bass shakers...they work nicely for those of us who want the feel of bass without the ear-splitting thump thump. You can check out my webpage on my install, but I placed them in the map pocket on the back of the seats. The pocket presses the shakers firmly against the back of the seat, and no drilling is required.

I feel stupid now- that map pocket thing is a good idea! I had a set of the smaller ones (I had them in that pic) but sold them once I tried the Pros (they are SO much more forceful!).

Pinky, I just can't see hammering the seat... I'm too chicken!
