Default Amp burned out?

Well my amp no longer makes any power. It is a jbl 80.4 and it was in the car when I bought it. Anyhow it seems to be overloading or something. When I hook it up it gives power for about half a second then shuts off for 3 seconds or so and gives power for another half second. It cycles like this over and over. When it gives power it's not anything that can be listened to, it just moves the speaker diaphragm out. I checked the fuses and hooked it up to my sisters car and it does the same thing. I also removed the cover and there is nothing that is obviously fried. So any idea of what it might be and whether or not it might be fixable. Thanks

I don't think it's a short in wires because when I hooked it up in a different car it did the same thing. when it first started to go out i noticed a very high pitched (barely audible sound coming from the passenger speaker. I turned off the car but the amp didn't turn off. I had to pull the ground to get it to turn off. When i hooked it back up it would turn on and off again but wouldn't provide any power. Also it is a four channel amp and i tried hooking my components up to the rear channels but i got nothing from them. Not even the power cycling. The amp is currently pulled from the car as I don't want it catching on fire or anything. Thanks for the attempt Oatnet.
