Default Amp Choice, and Focal 165w vs BA Procomp

I was helping another board member install the high-beam garage door opener mod and got a chance to diddle around with his stereo (alpine 9815, Lightening Audio s4.600, BA ProComp 6.5s, generic kenwoods in the back) and since then my stereo has sounded like a$$, time to upgrade.

Currently I have:

Alpine 9835 (keeper)
Stock front speakers
S-pods (keeper)
Crystal Mobilesound CSC50s
RSX sub (keeper)

Background:

I listen to a pretty diverse mix, predominantly rock, some classical and jazz, zero rap. I have done a lot with in home audio (seperates but not tube) and home theater, but am a neophyte to car audio. I hear above the normal range, such as store alarm systems etc, and as a result Infiniti's have always hurt my ears, and I expect the Quarts, being bright, would have the same problem. I really need trunk space in the car, so I don't have plans to do much beyond the RSX sub, save maybe replacing the sub in the same cabinet and powering it with an external amp some day.

Questions

1) I liked the BA 6.5 Procomps a lot. The guy I was talking with, a musician with pretty refined tastes, said he liked the Focal 165w better but more than he wanted to spend. After reading through the forum here it seems like they are the Holy grail of s2k speakers. Is the bang for the Focals worth the bucks over the BA's?

2) Right now I am just planning on replacing the fronts, but when cash comes up I plan on replacing the crystals too, so I am looking for a good 4-channel amp.
- Because of the trunk thing, I am concerned about space. It would be nice to find an amp that fits under the passenger seat.
- In home audio, I have had the most success having a lot of headroom on my amps to avoid bass spikes sucking the life out of the high end, so I'd like something with a fair amount of power, maybe 125x4 or more.
- I ran 10ga through the firewall. I am not about to design my system around that wire, but it was a pain in the a$$ to run it (2 hours to get the rubber grommet back in) any way I can use it? Currently powering the 9835 with it, but after I put in the amp I'll turn off its amps and run it off stock power.

Can anybody help me balance my priorities and recommend some amps? Thanks in advance for any advice you may choose to share with me.

-JD
