Info/Advice Needed
I currently have a Alpine 9827 headunit, coaxial Boston Acoustics SL65's in the doors, and a RSX bose sub in the trunk. I know the 9827 has a weak internal amp (18*4 or something) so I would really like to amp the door speakers. Also, the rsx sub does that annoying "pop" sound when changing tracks or turning on/off. So... would it be a good idea to get a 4 channel amp, hook 2 channels up to the door speakers, and the other 2 to the sub? Would this blow up the bose sub? Would the popping stop? Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The tiny bose amp probably only puts out less than 10 watts. I bypassed it and am running a alpine m200 (60ish on ebay) with it...no pops and it definitely hits now, it's a good compromise sub enclosure. You have to adjust the gain controls to properly match the volume levels so you don't blow the sub.
Definitely upgrade the amp...cleaner high power always helps.

Are you having a problem "hearing" your front speakers? You have different issues in your original post. One is your sub/lack ofbass response/popping while the other deals with having a good sounding listenable stereo image with volume.
Solving both issues with what you want to do is a compromise. You might want to look into a 5 channel amp so that you have an upgrade path later on to install rear speakers ala the s-pods to get the sound fill you want ..maybe some tweeters that face toward you as well as treble is highly directional.

I can hear my front speakers fine but I know I am not NEARLY tapping their full potential. So I figure if I can fix the popping and improve my door speakers in one shot then why not?
