I'm looking for an amp to power a set of 6.5" alphasonik components and the 10" psw8104.

NFRs200nyc - Dave has been very helpful in guiding me on the right size amp for this application ~ 125x4 @ 4ohms....


So I've narrowed my choices down to the following:

so the question is, will any of the above amps work? or will any one amp sound noticeably better than the other? also some of the amps have electronic crossovers and some do not, does that affect sound quality or performance?

basically, i'm looking for the best bang for your buck w/out degrading sound quality.

advice and feedback on any of the above amps would be appreciated.

they all sound like pretty solid choices; also i've been told the Infinity is a bit underrated--you'll likely get more clean power than just the 111w it's rated for. I also like the fact that if you bridge channels 3 and 4, you get 278w (conservatively) for the sub. Then again the JBL GTO 75.4 specs look pretty good also, and IMO I think it's a better looking amp.

edit: my alpine amp has 300wrms going to my 10" audiobahn sub, and sometimes I wish it was more. You may also, depending on your box/sub. If I were shopping for an amp right now to replace my current amp, and I were considering just the amps you listed here, i'd probably get the JBL PX300.4.

 

The only problems with the Alphasoniks, is they are a bit on the large side. You will have to mount it a little crooked to have it fit on the amp rack from Jim. However, if you use the spare tire cover from Pas2knut, you can mount almost any amp on it. They are all the same level of quality amps, and you will be fine with any of them. In your application, the PX300 would work very well.

 

check dimensions. just cut an (mdf) board on top of toolwell to mount amp on... given enough spare space on both sides so i wont have to kink the RCAs and cables, the JBL fits almost exactly

so, anything a little longer and you might have to worry about room for connections

 

Thanks for all the advice. I decided to go w/ the JBL PX300.4. Now I'm just waiting for John (darkknight) to get back to me about the alphasonik comps and sub....

So the JBL amp does 125x4 RMS @ 4 ohms and I plan on bridging the rear channels for the sub.

I'm looking to pickup an 10" sub, so just to confirm before I order it, I could configure either a 10" sub with a single voice coil @ 4 ohms or a 10" sub w/ dual voice coil @ 2 ohms (wired serial for a 4 ohm load as shown here: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiri...hmDVC_4ohm.gif).

Is there any benefit in one configuration over the other? I'm looking to get the alphasonik 10" 8104J (http://www.alphasonik.com/800.html#psw810j) sub but want to make sure I order the right configuration.
