Default Amp smells rotten!

Hi guys,

Came back to my car after leaving it standing for 3 days while at work and when I got in there was a smell like something had gotten in, and died.

After a couple of days I decided to get into the soft top drain sinks by removing a few panels as the one on the passenger side (UK car, fuel tank side) seemed to be the cause of the stench. However, there was nothing in there and after cleaning it through with diluted floor cleaner, the smell didn't go away.

Then I happened to remember an episode of Mighty Car Mods where a Civic they bought absolutely stank like 'rotting emu', which eventually was traced to the amp in the boot/trunk. And sure enough, that was the cause of mine too... Smells like rotten eggs, or as if a mouse had crawled up in there and died.

The amp 'seems' to be working fine as far as I can tell, but I've disconnected it and removed it anyway. The stink in the hallway where it's currently sitting confirms it as the source of the smell.

Does anyone know what the hell this is, or how it's gotten like this?

Could be sulfide burning up in the amp. Try turning the amp gain lower and see if it goes away.
Also retune your amp.
