Default amp/woofer wiring

Hi - I recently purshased MTX 282

Specifications

RMS Power 12.5 VDC Input
2 Ohm Load 90 w x 2
4 Ohm Load 45 w x 2
Bridged 4 Ohm Load 180 w

Dynamic Power 14.4 VDC
2 Ohm Load 140 w x 2
4 Ohm Load 70 w x 2
Bridged 4 Ohm Load 280 w

this amp from Crutchfield and installers are hooking it up to a JL 8W3v2-D4 which is an 8 inch dual voice 4 ohm per coil subwoofer - As I look at the manual for ther amp and otherwise try to understand the best way to make sure the installers wire this properly I do not get it. I was thinking to turn the headunit to mono on the subwoofer run the two RCAs to the amp and run speaker wires to each coil on the speaker but the installer mentioned running only one set of speaker wires to the sub and wiring the sub for series or parallel - I forget which he mentioned. Do you have any comment, cautions, etc in this regard? I am especially concered with your caution in the manual against wiring bridged two 4 ohm speakers - isn't two 4 ohm speakers the same as a dual voice 4ohm each speaker?

Thanks for your help

Wired in parallel your impedance will drop to 2 OHMS.
