I disagree with you on this one. If I stop, it's probably because I saw some hot chick on the road
and would that be such a bad reason to slow down?

see? yet another reason making MUB's closer to perfection. (honestly, it really is only applicable on the highway in light to moderate traffic. in the city, there are far too many reasons for people to brake w/o explanation.)

I dont know to much about other detectors but I went with the k40 with the laser diffusers in the front and rear. Its quite expensive but then so are tickets if we get them... It takes a lot of work to get it all installed cuz the car is built so tight plus you have to drill two holes in the dash where you want to lights to let you know if the detecting is coming from the front or rear...

V1 is permanently upgradeable. Long term it's the best solution.

Rocky Mountain Radar, LOL.

Go to www.radartest.com and read up on that shite company, it's laughable!

as an FYI - the 8500 X50 is also upgradable over the long haul, including the ability for software upgrades.

i sell this stuff for a living the v1 is going to compaire to the 8500. the 8500 x50 is the new version better than thoes two. it has 360 coverage you can turn off the x band. you are always going to read k near target and best buy and stuff you cant help that cause its the same signal as the cops us but trust me you want the x50 its the best out there.

for the record and to correct the misinformation above:

both the X50 and V1 have laser sensors in front and rear, allowing roughly 360* laser coverage.

the V1 has a forward and rear facing radar detection array, which allows it to have coverage that would allow for roughly 360* radar coverage. i can only suspect it is not truly 360*, and does rely on reflections, but proving this would be difficult. the front and rear arrays allow for the 'arrows' to function as they do.

the X50 has ONLY a forward facing radar detection array, which allows it to have 180* forward coverage, and it therefore relies on reflections for rearward coverage.

that being said, reflections are much more reliable than they sound, and my X50 often and consistently will detect sources that are located behind me.

I have owned a V1 for over 6 years and love it. To say it has saved me many times is an understatement.

Once you live with the arrows you will never go back.

Worth every penny.

my 2 pennies worth

The Passport 8500 X50 has been an excellent radar detector for my wife and I. The best thing I like is the Expert Mode (pictured on post above) screen that tracks all the signal strengths.

As you learn where all the false alarms come from and there strengths the Expert screen gives you a big advantage. A lot of Po Pos love to sit in these areas where the false alarms go off, When the Po Pos run this sting, I can see the extra signal and know its a sneaky Po Po waiting to catch me.

My wife liked the Escot Passport 8500 X50 so much that she stole it from my S and put it in her Scion tC. Well, as you could imagine my S was not to happy with this idea. So she went down to a friend of hers who owns a high end stereo shop and had the Escort SR7 Remote system with detectors and Laser Shifter installed on the front and rear.

The Laser Shifters do an awesome job of confusing the laser so the Po POs get a false reading. This feature can also be added to the 8500 X50. If the Po Pos in your area use Laser you are playing russian roulette with them and they will win, It's just a matter of time. When you get that Laser Hit on your car without the Shifters your radar will let you know that you are getting a ticket.

My wifes 8500 X50 detects K and Ka bands just a little quicker ( maybe 2 seconds ) than the my SR7. However they both detect radar from miles away so those couple of seconds don't bother me at all ( I have better brakes ).

My Shifters have saved me twice already and are worth every penny. Had direct laser hits twice and the Po Pos just have a confused look on their faces as I drive by in Stealth Mode. One of those times I was in high triple digits and when you get hit with Laser they are right on you, less than 1,500 feet away. Thank God the S has such good brakes.

I'm a firm believer that the Shifters do their job, and do it very well. Escort has the only proven shifters on the market.

Just my 2 cents
