I love the way it works, but the damn white cable sticks out like a sore thumb. I want to paint it black but have no idea what kind of paint to use so it won't crack and peel off. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? I've also heard rumors of people dying the cable. Anything?

Is there no way to tuck the cable along the side of the pass side? If im not mistaken this cable runs from the rear of the stereo.

I have it completely concealed other than the necessary slack to make it reasonable to navigate the iPod menus while driving. I'm talking about no more than 14" of cable.

Maybe get some black shrinkwrap and shrink it over the entire cable?

Shrink wrap or electrical tape are your best bets.
