I would be concerned the pager output power might damage the Honda amplifier, so I agree you should look at a separate antenna design.
The CrimeStopper I have uses a small di-pole that fits in the secret compartment very nicely, and seems to have reasonable range with top up or down. Not a mile away for sure, but good enough for my use. If you can get a dipole design try that location.
