Any differences between MY 2000 and 2002 stereo harness?
Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows of any wiring difference between the MY 2000 and 2002 factory stereo harness. I heard that the only difference between the stereos is the power output (watts).
thanks,
Ray

There is one extra wire which does not seem to do anything at all. I checked it out on the postings here but can't rememcer what it's for. Either lights or the antenna enable (not required on S200).

I accidentaly reversed the amplifier turn on and the antenna wires in my first cut on the installation. I could see nothing on the antenna lead with a voltmeter either as a voltage or a ground changing state. I have since reversed the wires, they were both green as I recall. In any caseI did not note any differience in the operation of the radio, however, I don't listen to the radio often. I was trying to find out how the amplifier turn on lead functioned, (sources 12 Volts). I will look back and see what the extra wire is, if I can.

Ok I found the refferience it is pin 19 lf the OEM harness. Here is a quote of the answer to me about the wire.
"On page 22-89 of the Helms manual for 2000-2003, wire 19 is listed as only on '02-'03 models. It's a red wire and goes to the "Dash lights brightness controller". Probably for varying the display brightness."
