Default Any way to control iPod

I have an Alpine headunit and an iPod connected with the Alpine cable. I also have an IR Modifry DCI connected. Only problem is I can't control anything but the volume. Everything is connected, I just don't think it's set up to control an iPod. It kind of sucks because I have all my music in my iPod and don't keep CDs in my car.

If you push the audio source button (the big one) and hold it while pushing up or down on the volume you should go next track, previous track.

If you push and hold the CHANNEL switch and use the vol up/down you should go "next album" which may be interpreted as next playlist or next artist on our iPod.

Do these not work for you? What happens if you hit the buttons for "next track" or "next disk" on the Alpine factory remote?

I'll definitely try those two out. Unfortunately my radio didn't come with a remote, so I don't know if it works that way. I'll post an update tonight. Thanks!
