Anyone know how to use an Audison Amp
I finally got some of my new equipment installed last night. Focal 165K2p's and 2 Audison amps. Im still waiting for my 13kx sub, but in the mean time I was going to just hook up my existing Kicker 10" L5's. My question is, does the Audison amps have internal brideges that adjust the ohms automatically or do I have to do it manually somewhere? Cant find anything in the maunal and I just want to be sure before I plug anything in. The amps capable of 350w@4ohms, 650w@2ohms , or 900w@1ohm. The sub is a dual voice coil 2 ohm.
bah,
that amp is a piece of junk. send it to me, and i'll make sure it is disposed of properly. i'll PM you w/ my address.
it should adjust for the proper speaker load automatically. it should just be plug and play.

I was curious about your question so I tried to find an online manual for the model you mentioned (LRX 1.400). I did find a manual but it was in German.
From what I can tell, the LRX 1.400 is a mono amp, which means it has one channel. Bridging only applies to amplifiers with more than one channel. With a mono amp like this one, bridging is not something you need to worry about or plan for.
You asked (I think) about how to make sure the amp can handle whatever load it sees; you also mentioned the sub you want to hook up has 2 2 ohm voice coils.
2 2 ohm coils can be wired in parallel for a final 1 ohm load or in series for a final 4 ohm load. Since the LRX 1.400 is stable at 1 ohm, you can wire the sub either way and the amp should be happy.
To decide which way to go, it's necessary to know the RMS rating of the sub. At 4 ohms, the LRX 1.400 can deliver 350 watts; at 1 ohm it can deliver much more. How many watts is the sub rated to handle? The answer to that question will determine whether to wire in series or parallel. Once you decide that, JL has a wiring tutorial (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161 ) that can assist you in the process of hooking it up.
Hope that helps and that you enjoy your new equipment.

Yup, they are big pieces of sh!t. However, unlike pika and Phil, I am local and will save you the trouble of shipping. I can come and take them off your hands. Sorry Phil.
As to your question, to the best of my knowledge, the amp will detect the load presented, and adjust accordingly. (Make sure you are loading it with a load it can carry .

Thanks guys I got everything working now and it sounds great even with the Kickers. Cant wait to see what the Focal su will sound lke.
The LRx 400.1 even though its mono has 2 seperate sub outs. It does have an internal bridge.
