Thumbs up Anyone make an iPhone or cell dock/mount?

I am looking to make some sort of a docking station to charge and connect to my head unit for my iPhone. I was thinking of making it using adocking stations base for the iPhone. Has anyone ever made one of these in their S2K? Best would be in he dash but don't think I want to cut a hole just for that in case I switch phones and all. Would be nice to have it in a place where you could see the phone so you can see if someone is calling or to use as an ipod connected to the head unit.
Any ideas or suggesstions would be appreciated. I am looking to do this with minimal to no money being used really. Thanks.

Sounds like a good idea. We could rip apart one of those 5 dollar docks from the store "5 below" thats what i did for my high school engineering project. I dno how to make it look flush with the interior though.

I am going to take a look inside my car tomorrow to see where there might be space to mount it. Would be really nice to have space somewhere on the console or dash or something in eyes view and will still look flush and like it belongs. I can take one of those dock things and just paint it black so it matches.

I have an Eclipse head unit. I think it is the 3400 model or something like that.
Hard to see in the pic. You mean just the plug that goes into the ipod connector thing? I really want something that will be flush and look like a permanent piece.

Ahh ok I just did mine like that, because when I get a call I can easily pull the phone out while drivng, if it's docked it may be a little harder because your gonna need side supports to hold the phone in, or in turns it will fall out.

get the modifry dash bracket. thats what I and a few others have used.

I use his normal one but you can also get the Panavise one that will rest to the right of the headunit.

I bought a Neoprene case from the apple store and sewed it thru the holes. so its flexible enough to remove easily but stable enough to use as if it was glued on. another member on here used velcro on a hard iPhone case so he can turn it sideways for movies

I think what I am going to try today is cut a hole in the leather armrest part and then just fold the leather over so you don't see any cuts and then attach the charger connection in that hole so I can just like place it down and click it in to charge. Could probably also wire it up to my head unit from there for ipod use. Theres a nice hole right under the leather armrest already and the power is there going right to the cig lighter so would make hardwiring very easy. Should hopefully sit flush with the armrest once cut out and will be nice and easy to reach for music and phone call and all. Anyone ever try anything like that? Luckily these ap1 center consoles are real cheap so if I completely screw it up won't be a pricey mistake.
