Default Anyone moved the factor door speakers behind the seats?

Most of the forum members seem to like having rear speakers, so I was wondering if anyone who replaced their door speakers just moved them to the panels behind the seats?

Yep. XViper did this in his car a long time ago, and then he helped me to do this in my car a few months ago.

Highly recommended if you don't want to pour a ton of money into your stereo. I ended up spending about $240 Canadian including the pair of speakers I purchased, Lucid harness and door adapters.

Why don't you just add 2 rear speakers to the back and get a better overall sound with 4 cabin speakers. If I remember correctly the stock head unit is set up for 4 speakers, even though it uses 2 component speakers. My car's sponsored by Dynamic Audio and they're just about ready to install 2 8inch subs behind the seats as well as a 12 inch Orion H2 sub in the trunk, and just in case your wondering yes I drive a S2000. According to Dynamic there's a company that makes enclosed speakers that mount in back of the grill of your cargo net behind your seats keeping it clean looking. You might want to look into that before moving your door speakers.

dreamcation, do these speakers keep you from moving your seat all the way back?

I just called Dynamic and found out that the box is a foam enclosure that is installed behind the grill of the cargo net and any 4 to 6 inch speaker will work. All you have to do is remove 2 screws, run the wires threw the box to the speaker, then mount everything and screw the grill back on. So you lose no room with your seat and the foam box keeps everything from rattling. I guess this is what they're doing with my 8 inch subs, but on a modified level.

That's awesome. Tell them if they successfully get 2 8inch subs back there they may be in for alot of business. I"ve been told by some experienced pro's that it can't be done without loosing the ability to move the seat all the way back. I can't wait to see your pics!

Acutally I did just that over the weekend while waiting for my POLK EX365 to arrive. Today My03 door speakers was OK but after it got moved to the rear, it lost a lot of bass that it used to have. I had all the power to front. Then all the power to the rear, help some but not as much. Out of phase ? Swapping the terminals does not help. Can 't wait to install the door speakers soon.

i did that 6 months ago, quite happy with that so far. smaller speakers would make installation easier though.
