So GregFarz78 says it doesn't charge the ipod/iphone, bb_00 says it does..

I'm not in an real hurry to get a new HU. It's October here, the car is about to go into storage mode...which means it won't be coming out until March or April at the earliest

Awesome! Thanks for the advice.

So, no additional cable is required, just use the one provided?

Has anyone tried to play streaming audio via iphone app through their head unit? (I'd think it would play, but not sure if that's the case)

I might have to be installing a head unit into the S someday soon

hmm looks like the x305 is a little different b/c the only cable that came with my x100 was a usb I had to buy the ipod cable seperately. Mine has a usb port on the back which I use for my usb dongle, and a port to plug the ipod cable in. The door closes just fine too

Yup, the x305 does come with an additional 3" iPod cable which is attached to (extended from) the USB cable.

I have a previous version of the IDA and it charges my iphone and pandora does play thru the HU. Just pause the IPOD feature from the HU and access Pandora thru the iphone.

I have an Alpine IDA-x305. Got mine from www.cartoys.com for $239.99 + shipping, which I thought was a pretty great deal.

When you close the door, as long as you close it pushing right over the latch, it closes fine. If you close it from the center of the door, you can hit the knob when you're closing it. :/ Not really a problem once you realize.

I got mine with the modifry DCI and PNP harness. Install took mabye 15 minutes
