does the Alpine 9815 have a motorized faceplate, like to load cd's and stuff, or is it the kind where u press a button and it just falls down?
i got a 12" Alpine Type R sub (love it) and a MTX amp last december and im looking to get a head unit since my stock unit gets over powered by the sub.

I agree. I had a really nice Sony head unit on my old Si (sold last year) with the same feature, and it really filled the sound in nicely. I'd recommend Sony to anybody. Beautiful HU hyperpm!!

I've got the Alpine 9813. From what I saw the features were identical to the 9815 but I got mine new for $280 Install is a snap and it looks perfect in my S.

Depends on your style, color, looks (sounds all similar, just add an amp). Ask the guys over at electronics forum.

I got Alpine as well. Isn't MY02+ stock headunits Alpine made as well?
Great fit, love the blue face w/ red display option.

These are the only markings in the HU and it says nothing about Alpine but I guess it could be

I have the same one with the fold down motorized face and I have some slight clearance problems. The tray loading mechanism sometimes bumps the dial knobs as it slides out, some times it stops competely and retracts, sometimes it just bumps over them and keeps going, sometimes it goes past them without touching. Also, you cannot close the HU door with the faceplate on.

I'm selling mine and getting an alpine. DSO is alright, but the thing is it sounds really flat with the DSO turned off, but I wouldn't say it sounds better than a HU without it.

Just listening to my friend's Alpine versus what is supposed to be a top of the line Sony, the Alpine sounds MUCH MUCH cleaner.
