Default Audio Control eye positioning??

I have an Alpine aftermarket deck and the audio control kit. It all works but cant find a place to put this eye. i dont want it dangling over the deck and i do kinda want it so that even with the door closed it will still work. Where did you guys put it? If i completely cant have it so it will work withthe door closed then so be it but it would be nice. Any help is appreciated

If it works with the door open, it will work with the door closed. Infrared reflects off anything, so it will bounce off the door and hit the headunit. Place the eye in between the headunit and the surrounding frame (plastic square donut that came with the headunit) and point the eye at the headunits remote sensor. (depending on what model you have, the remote will be i a different spot, its in the manual)....if your headunit has a motorized face, it will most probably be on the mid/left top section....next to the words "media expander"...if it is a front loading unit (ie 9807) then it is on the right near the XM logo.

it's the little white dot right above the HU. i have mine between the start of the dash and the top of the trim ring on the HU. (square donut that Dave mentioned.)
