I have an after market ICE system in my car. polks in the front and 2 JL amps. 500/1 (sub) and 300/2 (front) and a 10" w6. The audio will cut off when I turn the volume up but the sub keeps pounding. I have a motorized alpine HU and the max volume is 35 and the audio will cut off when I take it to 28 or so. I turn off the HU and turn it back on and everything works fine.

 

voltage issue, check grounds, and age or condition of battery.

 

I think your right. The lights on the HU dim when the audio is turned up. How do I fix this? New battery or do I need a capacitor? Last time I changed the battery was in 2008.

 

capacitors are just a huge marketing scam if you ask me. wont help. how old is your battery? last time it was replaced? what gauge wire are you using from your battery to your amps?

 

Capacitors are used wrong most of the time, yes they work when used correctly, plus the cheap caps are no where rated for what is needed,

In a S2000 setup with 500watt system, a good condition battery is all that is needed, but the s2000 factory grounds are weak, adding additional grounds are very easy, and i have seen it solve many issues common in the s2000.
