Audio help for a noob.
Hello all,
I have been thinking about upgrading my sound system for a good while now and although i have virtually no knowledge of how it all works, im willing to have a go. I have recently just bought a X305s system to go into my s2000 and im looking to upgrade my speakers too. For some reason i have a thing about Alpine, maybe thats because it's all ive used and im playing safe? im not sure, but if there are any brands that are good enough that can work with this deck then im more then willing to give them a shot.
Im still um'ing and ah'ing about an Amp. I have no idea how to fit one, where to fit one or what to do with it if i had one, but i know they are a must to have. Im looking for a straight swap for my speakers (i hear they are 6.5 in an 05 plate) and i have just bought the harness and adaptrt from Modifry.
Im not looking at spending any more then a combined cost £200 for the speakers and amp really so...any help would be much appriciated.
Thanks,
Pete
Ps. Oh yeah, I listen to ALOT of Rock related music, if that helps?

Have you looked at what other speakers people have chosen in this subforum? More importantly, have you gone out to audition speakers?
Pedro,
You'll struggle to get a decent amp and speakers for £200 as a decent set of speakers is around £100 but this'd do:

Thanks guys, I havent actually been out to take alook at any speakers yet but i will be sure to do that.
What would you suggest my budget be Lovegroova? are the Alpine brand still good enough in this day and age?

Alpine stuff is usually pretty good, and that setup I suggested isn't half bad.
Do have a look on Ebay as 2nd hand amplifiers can be got for good money - other good brands include Genesis, JL Audio etc - those speakers I suggested will do a decent job, alternatively, there's these http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spr60c.html which will be better still.

The suggestion above should work well for you. As noted in my sig, I have an iDA head unit from Alpine, the component speakers from Alpine and the Power Pack Mini Amp from Alpine and love it. Enough volume and clarity for what I like and I can still use my trunk
. You may have to modifry the speaker baskets to make them fit (or almost any non oem speaker), but that is easy enough.

Also budget for this: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/sile...lume-pack.html adding sound deadening, especially to the doors will make a big difference to sound quality.

Thanks again guys,
So that powerpack and those type R speakers would go well? Im not sure what the figures tell me but im assuming that the powerpack is pretty beefy in its own right?

Yes, it's pretty beefy but I'd actually recommend running the cheaper speakers with it. The more expensive ones need a bit more power to work properly. If you do get a 2nd hand amp with a bit more power, then do consider the Type-Rs.
I've also found them a bit cheaper here: http://sextonsdirect.co.uk/car_speak...CS.html?cat=44
Either of these amps would work well with either speaker: http://sextonsdirect.co.uk/amplifier...00.html?cat=63
