Default audio installation

Hi guys, im about to install a sub and 4 channel amp. amp will power the two teeny weeny stock speakers in the front (til i find a set of components worthwhile). the other two channels will be bridged to the sub. Question: are there things i should know about the S that would make my installation easier, quicker, and safer???

Your advices are very much welcomed.

what is the WRMS rating on the amp for the front speakers? The stock speakers are only something like 17-20WRMS (if that high). If the amp pushes much more than that (35+ or so, like most multichannel amps), you will most likely blow the stock speakers. You can get a set of replacement speakers that are half decent online for under $75. I got some Blaupunkt components from www.ikesound.com for $40 (retail $295) because they are last year's model. Whenever you replace the door speakers, make sure you know the mounting size of the stock baskets. The ones I got were too big, so I had to get rid of the baskets and cut some MDF rings with a Jig Saw. Also, the stock speakers are 4-ohm speakers. When you replace them, look at your amp and see if the power rating is at 2 or 4 ohms, and get speakers accordingly. I have heard that the Infinity Reference / Perfect Kappa series of speakers are almost direct drop ins to the stock baskets (I will let someone else confirm this).

As for installation, run the RCA and power wires APART. I made the mistake of running them together, and there is some interference from the power wires that can be heard through the sub channel. Run the RCA's under the center console and the power / trigger wire down the passenger side. There is a place to cross the firewall right behind the battery. Follow under the carpet and trims until you get to behind the passenger seat. Remove the spare tire (for now). Reach in from the trunk and remove the thin layer of insulation, so you can see light into the cabin. Pass the wires through there (routing them so the spare and insulation can be replaced). That is pretty much it....if you have any more questions, let me know. If I cannot answer them, I will try to find someone who can.
