Default Audio System Upgrade Help

Hey, I'm looking for some help in upgrading the audio system in my 2001 S2K, and I figured there would likely be some very knowledgeable and qualified people on the boards here who may be able to help - and in return you could make some quick bucks. I figure this exercise could take 1-2h or less for someone experienced, and I can paypal you $40 for your help.

Essentially, I'm looking for someone to understand what I'm looking for in a system (actually something fairly simple), and to help research and recommend to me what components to get, research prices and where to get them, and from where locally (CA Bay Area) to get it installed.

I know I could walk into a local audio shop and do the same thing, but I'm a believer that with the right research and knowledge, I could probably get a much better deal than just going with the first shop I walk into and taking their recommendation. I could probably also search the boards and find the same info, but I'm not exactly efficient and knowledgeable in audio systems and what works/doesn't for my needs, budget, etc.

I would expect to see proposals on what to get, where to get it, at what price, and where to install it (and price?), with supporting data to back up why you made the recommendations you did.

With this data and your help I'm hoping to go through a seamless audio system upgrade.

Anybody interested? PM/reply if so.

Thanks
Tim

unless you are looking to get some custom made sub box and amp rack, installing speakers and a head unit is very easy. Im in the bay area as well and can help you out if youd like once you get all of your stuff.

Cool, thanks.

I've got a pair of Alpine Type S 6" in the door and an Alpine head unit already, so I would be looking for some more oomph.

Sound deadening and an amp will go a long way. A sub is a great idea as well. Raam mat and Dynamat Extreme are good sound deadeners. Stay away from low end stuff, it's made from asphalt. I believe standard Dynamat is asphalt as well, but not 100% on that.

^^^ not too familiar with the details of what you describe. What is your passenger floor sub and where can I get details on it?

Keep in mind that a major factor in any sound system install is your preference. You need to get out and listen to the options. If you just want someone to tell you what to get you might as well just borrow someone's install list.
