hey i really need a navigation system in my car and the pioneer system, the avic-n2, is looking really good. i know that the screen will hit the bulge of the dash but i was thinking. what if you didnt fully install the hu into the slot. what if you left it only partially inserted and somehow secured it? possible? or do you think the screen would hit the gearshifter when opening and closing.

 

if it is a motorized system, chances are it will hit the shifter as well. Check the travel path prior to purchasing. Someone on here has a site that makes custom bezels for the dash, so the screen can be separated from the navigation unit and mounted on the dash permanently....too bad the search is down.

ahh, then forgive me... I haven't been in the market for a while... I would do a dash install with a flip screen in all honesty... then you have alot of space for EQs or whatever else you wanted to install in the stock location... I wanted to pull my SRS computer, delete the vents, and mount a computer down there, then I realized I wouldn't watch the road...
