Step 4 is the mute wire. If it is wired up per the instructions, try tapping the MUTE 2 times.
4) Connect the Orange/Green wire of the ASWC to pin 14 of the vehicle
I've been too lazy to pull out the head unit, but I'm 99% sure I wired it up correctly.
Yes, I know i wired it correctly.

The tapping two times doesn't work? I haven't tried it yet, but I'll give it a try today.

The s2000 mute apparently doesn't work the way most of them do - I'm guessing
the tech support guy gave generic instructions for the generic interface and didn't
know the details for a relatively obscure car. If you want the mute and your
headunit supports a hardwired telephone mute, you can probably wire up a relay to
do it.

I tried mine out yesterday and the double-tap does not work. OTH, you are probably right about it being a generic instruction. I suppose I can live without the mute button, but it would be nice to have that functionality.

If your headunit has a hardwired tel-mute wire, you can use a standard relay to connect
the dash mute button to the tel-mute wire of the headunit.
Basically, you use the output from the mute button (yellow/blue wire in the car's harness)
to energize the relay, with the tel-mute wire being connected to ground through the relay
when the when relay is energized.

instead of connecting the switched 12v from the vehicle harness (pin 2) to the HU (red wire), connect the mute wire (pin 14) to the HU switched 12v input.

now you have power on/off from the mute button.
