Bass Shakers vs. Rear Speakers
I have a pair of Bass Shakers lying around. Figured I'd slip them into the map pockets of my new (2001 but new to me) S2000. Right now the stereo system is completely stock. I assume I will have to get an amp to power the bass shakers... that head unit doesn't look like it would power them by itself. (I would not hook up the front speakers to the amp.) Alternative is to get a pair of rear coaxial speakers and just hook them up to the stock head unit and not bother with an amp. So, either way it's $100 worth of equipment for me which is fine. I don't need a super system, just want to make a little more out of what's there. What's the better way to go, amp + bass shakers, or rear speakers + no amp?
And, where would you put the amp if you wanted the most stealth look... and, where would rear speakers go?
Thanks.

Bass Shakers only need about "25 watts RMS/35 watts max". so, you don't need a whole bunch of amp.
i would say the best solution for you is to
buy an inexpensive amp and some reasonably inexpensive speakers. (possibly coaxials or cheap components)
wire inputs for the the 4 channel amp to the front outputs of your HU.
move the OEM speakers to the rear ala Lucid's panels
put your new speakers in front.
put the bass shakers in as planned.
power the OEM speakers via the OEM HU
power the bass shakers and front speakers off your amp.
all in all, this should cost you about $150 if you shop super wisely and DIY. plus, you get the best of all your worlds.
if you want to spend about 5x's that amount, i have a whole different package of recommendations to give ya...
