Bazooka 6.5" amplified?
I'm thinking about getting the Bazooka 6.5" amplified and putting it either under the driver's seat (if it fits) or in the trunk. I'm not looking for a huge amount of bass (more into jazz than rock), but am not happy with the upgraded Kenwood speakers I purchased for the doors and rear.
Here's the unit I'm looking at: EL Series 6 inch 100 watt amplified Tube Subwoofer
Has anyone used one of these with the stock 2002 radio?
Also, what's involved in hooking it up - since it's amplified, I assume it takes a non-amplified output from the radio. Any ideas on how to connect it?
Thanks,

It really depends on what you are looking for.
My recommendation would be to have a "good" quality 8 or 10 inch sub and a minimum of 200-250W rms.
I used to have the Infinity 10" powered 200W sub in my car and was not very impressed (returned it to Circuit City 5 days later). It is a challenge to get good bass from the trunk of the S into the cabin.
Plan on spending at least $400-500 or more.

I agree there's no chance under the seat but what about under the passengers legs on the seat side of the chassis cross brace. It would mean that you sacrifice being able to slide the passenger seat forward but I never do this anyway. The advantage is that you dont loose any boot space and you can probably mount it off the seat brace. As for the sound quality I couldnt comment cos ive never heard one but if you try it there let me know how it goes cos its what im thinkin of doing in the future.
Ive got two 10' subs in a box leftover from my last car but installing them would mean taking up boot space as well as drawing attention cos your music is louder outside the car than inside. You might even want to put that Nos lookalike bass tube in for looks if thats what you into?
Check out this thread it might be another option for you.

I've got the amplified 8" Bazooka in my S2000's trunk. I removed the tool kit and just dropped it in the hole. Placement is everything because I had a 6" Bazooka previously in my 944 Turbo in the cubby where the spare tire went and it sounded great. The 8' in my S2000 however is less impressive, still not bad though. It's a cheap way to add some base to a system that had none anyways.
