Default Best Component Speakers

Hey guys, can anyone recommend the best bang for buck component speaker for the S that will fit in the stock houseing?? I want to run the speaker without an amp. I currently have an Alpine 7893 head unit. I was thinking of the Boston Pros, but $400 is just too much.

tks

IMHO, Boston Acoustics Z6. period. but then again, if $400 is too much, $999 is probably way too much. that being said, i suggest you check out the JL evolution separates or boston's rally series separates. besides, the pro's prefer an amp, not just HU power to get the most out of them.

I'll agree with Lightning.

I'm looking at the BA 6.5 ProSeries but everyone I've spoken to says they really need an amp (JL for example).

The Ralley series from BA are also nice and much cheaper. I'd go Pros if you can swing it but then you're talking about an amp too. Stick with Ralley if you're set on HU power. Z's are awesome but the s2k isn't really the environment where I want to spend that kind of money on a couple speakers. A luxury sedan, nice SUV, consider it done.

BA lost it years ago when they switched CEO's. Best bang for the buck is Diamond Audio (IMHO). You could probably pick up CM3's or CM5's pretty cheap (CM3's will go for about $250 retail).

I paid $265 for a pair of Boston Pros. Ebay rules.

I've got Focal 130Vs and they are super clean. Pretty nice base if you're only going to have door speakers. Honestly though, you'll need an amp if you want to hear them with the top down at 60 mph plus.
