I TOTALLY agree. ALL of my parts have been purchased from my local shop. I suggested this because he seems to be on a budget and wanted to get more for his money.

For the record, the Dynaudio's are amazing speaks.

you really should try to use an amp if possible. Even a small decent quality amp will be better than HU power.

All of the brands mentioned here are good, Kekoa. You really won't know the difference since the S is not the optimum car to build an award winning sound system. However, if you put a small amp in then you would likely hear the difference between that and HU power driven speakers.

I have used ADS, Soundstream, Focal, BA, and Infinity. The first 3 are probably the better and cleaner sounding speakers. I currently have Focal and I love em. I used Soundstream SS 510s and SS 511s for years and they were as good as ADS at the time but I can't speak for their curent line. Although you can get their current line for less than $200.00 now.

As a slight divergence to the thread, have you upgraded your speaker wire when using an amp? How much of a hassle was that?

As a matter of fact, yes. I recently posted a large thread with instructions and photos for pulling new speaker wire into the doors.

Let me supplement MajorHavoc + Mike... I have the Dynaudio System 340 and they are the most musical components I have ever heard. The way I picked them was with a "blind taste test". I went to an authorized dealer that also had a large offering of other brands... gave him my favorite CD, sat in a chair facing away from the sound board and listened. I was given choices of A, B, C, etc... I didn't have to go back and re-listen to any components... the Dynaudios were so superior to anything else that they were clearly my choice.

The only problem with extremely superior components: Now my home speakers stink, my Boston Pros in my wife's car stink, etc.
