I have a 00 ap1 and do not have the tweeter cutouts on my door panels. I am just looking for a direct replacement door speaker with a built in tweeter.

I have been looking at the polk db651 but don't know how good these are. I am really not wanting to spend more than 150 for a set either.

I also have an Alpine ida-x305, if that helps.

Not really a huge audio guy so any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

It's all more or less the same without a dedicated amp powering them. If you go ampless, pick something with a higher sensitivity rating and probably some sort of silk tweeter to keep things smooth. Alpine HUs tend to colour the upper mid range in a sharp and and harsh manner.

The typical fallback is Infinity Reference series for this sort of application. I see you're looking at Polk DBs, but why? You could have the MMs for under $150.

 

i was just searching through forums and a few members mentioned them being direct replacement and a nice speaker. Not exactly sure what the MMs are.
