best nav system in $200 area
I have been messing with this thing all night! It is so easy. I have already put a few new vehicles in it, added some favorites and all kinds of stuff. I'm getting ready to link it to my phone. I also downloaded the 2009 firmware and maps for free. I am noticing that on the POIs, it has old restaurants that aren't in business anymore, even after the update. Although the update did take some away. Does anyone else have that problem. I am only talking about like 2 out of 25, but it's still wierd. Other than that it is a dream!

I have used a few Garmins and the Nokia 500.
The Garmin is great for people who want something that just works or the ability to upgrade maps. I've actually been considering selling my GPS to get a Garmin 770 and then adding Middle East maps. (I travel for work and really want a GPS which works globally.)
The Nokia is great IF you are satisfied with it out of the box. I actually like the Nokia navigation system a lot, but I've been trying to get a navigation license for the Middle East and Europe and it has been driving me crazy. Nokia support/upgrades are nonexistent. They literally don't even know that they make a GPS system. The only good thing is that these systems available cheap ($100) and there is a community online dedicated to hacking them to run iGo or TomTom software.

For you experienced GPS guys.... I just had my first long trip to the beach with the Nuvi, and it worked great over all, but a few questions.
1. I downloaded the latest '09 updates on Garmins website and it still missed (2) main high way changes on the way to a NC beach. Granted, these changes were within the last 6 months, but since I downloaded the latest maps, shouldn't those have been seen by the GPS? There were (2) 15-25 mile sections of highway that I was driving that it didn't even show up as a road at all, so the Nuvi kept "calculated" continiously until I got back to where it recognized the road again. So, how long does it take for the roads to be available for download, so I can have the latest roads.
2. Also, how does the Nuvi decide what is a POI? It has a lot, but not all, and it has some POIs that aren't even there. Again, is that normal.
Just basically looking for everything to be as up to date as possible.
Thanks guys!
Rich
