Default Big 3

Hey guys,

im getting some 4 awg wire to do a big 3 in the near future.

Im trying to buy a s2k real soon (ive been waiting for months!!!), and since i dont have the car to see, can someone tell me how long the big 3 wires are?

has anyone else here done it that can tell me how much you needed?

also, how many amps does the stock alternator put out?

i have a eD 13av.2 thats running on a NINe.1 @ 1 ohm in my ranger which i will be moving to the s2k. in my truck, it dims the lghts really bad with a voltage drop @ the battery to 11.7v.

Just to let you all know, eD has a wiresale, 40% off (81 cents a foot for 4 awg!!!). thats where i got my wire. so i thought, i might as well do a big 3 while its cheap.

Also, a little side note. :
If anyone knows/has an s2k in ohio that is selling <13k clean title, please pm me!!!!

thanks

The big three are the 3 major ground wires on the car. (battery to alternator, battery to chassis, and engine to chassis). In real high power multi amp setups, it really helps to replace those factory wires with upgraded 4 gauge ones. I don't think most 'S' owners run enough power to warrant doing this though.

I thought about doing it on my car to see if it would cure my dimming dash and headlights since I'm running old school PPI's which are extremely power hungry But still haven't gotten around to it.

BTW, you can find extensive discussions of this on most car audio forums.

yea, its not too commomn to find people with an s though hehe.

it should help voltage dropping a lot.

i got a 9.1 (1200wrms +) and a 9.4 (`350wmrs) that will be needing the power.

i have 10ft of wire to play with so that should do i think.

ill post my thoughts when i finish
