Actually, I'm feeling quite brave. I'm planning to keep the crossovers in the back by the amp, and run 2 sets of 16ga. wire into each door. It's been done before, so hopefully it won't be too bad. The key is to use something as a snake and pull the wire through. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

Oops, I lied. My crossovers are under dash(driver's side) and behind kick panel(pass. side). Two separate wires were run into each door. I did some of the install myself, but then had Tweeter finish it. One of the first things I heard from the installer was about the wires in the door.

Just pick a day when you have lots of patience! Good luck!

Well, I didn't get much time to work on the car last night, so the install isn't 100% complete. I actually found it rather easy to pull the two wires through each door. The trick is to disconnect the connector plug inside the car and feed it, plus the entire boot and wiring through to the door. Pull it out the speaker hole and then run your wires through it with a snake. I took digital pics while I was doing all of this, but I haven't sucked them out of the camera yet. Might post a few when I get a chance......but tonight I'm hoping to finish mounting the speakers and get everything wired up to the amp.

Finally got the Pros hooked up and all I can say is: WOW. Very crisp and clear, especially at higher volumes. The tweeters don't strike me as being harsh (as others have stated), but I suppose they'll probably sound a bit brighter with the top and the windows up. These are significantly better than the Rally series I've been listening to for the past few years. Surprising amount of bass considering it's only a 6.5" speaker. I would highly recommend these to anyone.

Thank goodness I found this thread tonight. I've been using the same stereo guy for over 15 years. Lost track of him the last year or so. Was referred to a "new guy" that didn't strike me as maybe quite knowing what he was talking about. Great guy but a little leary of his advice. He was recommending the 6.5 Pros with a JL amp but only 2 channel. He thought I wouldn't get anything by adding the rears since the seat covers them up.

Thoughts on the rears? I tend to have the seat pretty far up so I don't see a problem myself but I usually keep the passenger all the way back.

Anyway, since then I've located "my guy" and plan on running through the car in the morning for his input. Sounds like the Pro's are the way to go but

1) would you still add rears and would they be the same 6.5s
2) where are you guys mounting the amp? The "new guy" wanted to put it in the trunk but I really don't want to take up any room if I don't have to. I will but rather stow elsewhere if possible. I've heard there might be suitable room beside the spare in that "hidden" area between the trunk and the interior, under the roof well.

Thoughts are appreciated and once again thanks for a great site. This place is worth every dollar of "donation" and then some.

jeffbrig- very interested in the pics. Anything to make the next install go easier!

I can vouch that my system can be heard at high speeds(VERY high speeds) with the top down. There are times when I want to hear the engine and times I want to hear the tunes. Now I can do either whenever I want!

nvrquit4 - I removed my spare and the amp is mounted in its place. Still have plenty of room for the clubs. But I've probably cursed myself into getting a flat tire.

Yep, they ought to be stunning. I have 4" Rally components in the rear panels and they are very nice, extremely smooth highs and a suprisingly punchy bass for a 4" even with quite a high HPF set on the amp. They are my first Boston speakers but I have been impressed with the build and sound quality (except for the tiny terminals on the crossovers!! Another plus point for using them in the rear panels is the extremely low profile speaker grills.
