I just bought a pair of Boston Pros, should be installing them this weekend or early next week. To mount them in the front doors, you'll either need to fabricate a spacer ring of MDF, or cut the stock plastic basket (not as hard as it sounds).

Don't count on the head unit to power them adequately. They're 3 Ohm speakers (if they're the current model) and the head unit isn't rated for anything below 4. I'm going to run mine off a PPI amp, which is capable of 120 watts rms into a 3 Ohm load.

I had Boston Rally components in my previous vehicle, and was VERY pleased with their quality. The Pro series should be even better.

I have some Pro 6.5s powered by my JL 300/4 and I love them. However, I'm considering upgrading to the new Z6 Reference model that just came out, they sound unbelievable!!!

Just bought Pro 6.5's myself. The tweeters are not in yet as my door panels and seats are having custom work done. They are powered by a JL 300/4 amp. Sure hope they sound as good as everyone says. Also have a Stealthbox. Good luck w/ your purchase.

the pro's are wonderful... but for anyone willing to step up to the plate, the Z6 bostons make the pro's sound... well, cheap. and compared to the Z's in price, they are. if you're interested, let me know. i can arrange wonderful things at tweeter.

Hey Lightning,

I'm hearing that while the Z6 model sounds wonderful with lots of bass and highs are awesome compared to Pro series, the mids are not quite as "warm" as the Pro series, which is something the Pro series has always been known for. It was hard for me to tell at the local Tweeter because they had both of them so high on the board compared to my height

Comments?

My setup is in. Happy? Yes. The highs were quite harsh I thought at first. We kept tweakin' the Alpine 7995 until it wasn't so "tinny." Everyone's listening preference is different. I will say, my replacement of the stock system will make the average drive(occasional drive to work, no VTEC'ing) w/ top down all the more enjoyable. I don't think you'd be disappointed w/ a set of the Pro 6.5's. I didn't have the money for the top end. I would put Z6's in a sports sedan where the listening environment is less harsh.

FF2Skip,

If you open up the crossovers, there's a jumper for 0, -2, or -4 dB attenuation on the tweeters. You may want to try the adjustment there as well.

My 6.5s are going in tonight, I just finished wiring the amp (PPI PCX-480) and CD/MP3 player (Clarion DXZ815MP) yesterday. I just need to pull new speaker wiring into the doors and hook everything up. I'll post my review tomorrow

Thanks, Jeff. I forgot about the crossovers. Good luck w/ the wire in the doors if you're using the existing openings!!!
