I was a little concerned the glide panel is in a bad location for the S2000.

I agree, I didn't like the glide touch models I played with at the local shops.

Darkknight - I agree with you on the glidetouch. I'm trying to get your headunit via Ebay or the previous year's 9815. I just can't get used to using glidetouch. I guess after using Alpine (til this current Pioneer I'm using ) for the last decade it's hard to break old habits.

Im also not a fan of the glidetouch - I decided to go with the 9833 instead. I also decided against the 420i in favor of the versatile link (410c) and have my ipod, xm and a cd player hooked up to it.

The glidetouch "feature" on the 9855 is why I have a 9851 instead. Hated the interface.

I use playlists to organize the music on my iPod and bailed on trying to scroll around the albums after a few tries. Not a very friendly interface IMHO.

I also just recently purchased the same head unit. Still have to order the Modifry attachment and set some time aside so I can install it. Am thinking of just ordering some new speakers and an amp before I install it though.

Ditto. I am probably going to be getting a Nano when my graduation / xmas funds arrive. I will be getting the 420 adapter as well (funny name..... ). I dont think scrolling will be a problem, as it will be set to "random" the whole time. That is how I listen to my mp3 CD's now....random. Makes it more like a radio station without commercials.

I just got the CDA-9855 installed in my S as well. The glide touch I'm definately getting used to. At first I was messing things up, pressing the wrong thing, but after a couple of days, the Glide Touch is growing on me. I've also noticed that tilting the face makes it much easier to use the Glide Touch. The overall interface with IPod selection was the best Ive found. Nothing compared. I am more of a visual person and the Alpine delinately made finding the right playlist and song much easier. Then again, if you want to find a song on your IPod while driving forget it with the HU or directly from the Ipod. Just select a playlist and drive. Just skip though the unwanted songs. That is not a fault of the Alpine, it is a fault of someone with a too large of a playlist. Overall, I love the Alpine. Looks cool, blends well with the S interior and very versatle in it's capabilites.

You might be on to something. With that said, it take much less time to scroll through albums directly on the ipod vs. through the Alpine...

I believe that will be always be true no matter what Ipod adaptable HU becomes available. You want to hear the Ipod clearly without the mess of exposed wires? There you have it! If you want speed of the Ipod? Get an ITrip and sacrifice quality of sound through a FM transmitter.
