Default BT35-HON Module Install

Figured I would illustrate my install pics.

Pretty straight forward install.

REVIEW:

Unit auto connects within 10-15 seconds. Quality is very good plus not messing with the cars harness or aftermarket stereos. ( I hate them on these cars )

Can skip forward by hitting the CH button near the steering wheel on apps and use it to answer phone calls. You have to use the skip backwards button on the headunit itself to hang up though. Much quicker to pick up the phone and hang up through it.

been thinking about buying this

To hold my phone. Anyone know of any other ones that may offer different install spots?

What I like about this one is that it clips on ( I can skip out on using the sticky pad ) I don't like sticking stuff onto my cars surfaces inside.

Panavise mounts to the right of the radio and doesn't rely on friction and double sided tape.

Modifry mounts (also doesn't rely on friction and double sided tape) to the right of the AC controls but requires some cutting of the dash (not visible).

I've used all three. Knocked the ProClip/Brodit off too many times with my knee. Panavise is solid but in an odd position and depending on mount & device may interfere with the door. Modifry's position is great but vibrates a bit. I think he's currently selling a newer version and I'm not sure if it has less flex or not. I generally favor Panavise over Proclip/Brodit since they mount securely to the vehicle. That said, your preference may differ. I can't stand the stock head units in these cars.

There are (or were) interfaces with bluetooth.

I've been using the Proclip for my phone since '05. I never took the covers off the tape and always used it as a friction fit, and it's held up very well. It can be bumped off, but it doesn't come off easily on its own - i prefer having it be removable because it's easier to remove and clean out the crud from underneath. It's a great location for music control, since you can reach it with your thumb without letting go of the gearshift, but it's not as ideal for nav. You can use it safely as long as you don't stare at it while driving, but it does require taking your eyes off the road to look at it.

The bottom part of the bracket finally started to wear out (after 9 years, so that should tell you how well it's made), so I recently bought the modifry bracket, but haven't gotten around to installing it, since it's a big job to pull out the dash bezel. It's not pretty, but it's in a much better viewing position, so I'm torn on whether I'll use it or just replace the proclip. I recently changed out the phone holder to a magnetic holder from iomount (also sold through pro clip), and it's very nice. It requires sticking a thin steel disc on your phone, but if you have a thin case, you can hide it between the back of the phone and the case. The mount is bright red, which looks good with my red and black interior, but may not look as good with your blue.

YMMV, but I'm a bit OCD about the look of the accessories in my car. I got the red and black U2 ipod back in the day because it matched my interior, and I currently have a red leather case on my black iPhone, and bought a third party black lightning cable to replace apple's white one so it wouldn't stand out. I'm also itching to replace my alpine deck with one of the newer 147-149BT models because they can be set to have amber or red illumination instead of the default blue.
