i want to add the alpine KTP amp to my car, but i really dont want to get an after market deck, ive seen on a youtube video with some rewiring this amp can work with other aftermarket head units

i really dont want to go aftermarket becuase i dont like the look, dont feel like spending extra $ to get my dash controls to work, and my 2008 HU supports the ipod...

so my question here is do you think its possible to get this amp to work with the OEM head unit?

It's certainly possible. You even state that it is. Odds aren't that great on finding someone here woh has done it as most KTP-445 owners are using it with an Alpine head unit. If you can't do the necessary research (consider more than this site) to do this I wouldn't recommend it.

Any reason you're not considering a standard amp?

on the bright side, you've got a lot of good options for retaining your factory head unit and adding power with an aftermarket amplifier. as takeshi mentions though, the KTP amp is probably not your best bet. it's a small relatively low-powered proprietary alpine amp that doesn't have typical connections and instead is meant to be plug and play with alpine headunits. you can get it to work, but it will require you to hack it up a bit and re-wire stuff.

standard aftermarket amp is def. the way to go, especially now that there are quite a few inexpensive small footprint amps on the market that will provide much more power than the KTP and will be easy to set up without much loss of space at all.

whether you decide to hack up the KTP or go with a stand-alone amp, you may also have to pick up a line output converter to mate your factory headunit to it. see here for an explanation:

you can also buy an amp with speaker-level inputs, which would eliminate the need for the line output converter.

this sony amp has speaker-level inputs and sale price meets/beats the price of the KTP, but it might be a bit larger than you wanted:

alternatively, you could pair a line output converter to this small amp and meet/beat the price of the KTP without needing much room at all:
