Default can i Install Speakers with out an amp?

sorry, this must be a question that is asked some what frequently. if not then o well ...

i have a mono amp right now, with two 10's and a after marker HU. my friend gave me 2 type r' speakers, and my question is, can i install the type-r's with out buying a new amp?

if i can wire the speakers just to the HU, what would be the pro's and con's?

if someone could help me with my question i would appreciate it very much. Thank You

Considering that you have two 10 inch subs (and assuming that the subs and mono amp are decent) I would suggest amping the fronts. It will give you a balanced sound.

You can first install the speakers without the amp, it's easy. Then decide for yourself if you need to amp them or not.

Good luck!

Before you wire anything up, make sure the amp is capable fo stable operation at the ohm load you are wiring for. Kind of a long shot, seeing as you are saying that it is a "mono" amp. But there are 2-ohm DVC's out there that can be wired for 1-ohm impediances.

If you wire the subs so the impediance is lower than the amp's, it will potect, and if its a shitty amp, it will fry.
