Default Can't get CD players to turn on... what to do?

My friend has a 91 Accord and is trying to get some music going. I had to get two adapters, one for her older style harness and one that fits the S2000 radio. I soldered the harnesses together and plugged the CD player into her car and stuck the antenna in. The CD player will not turn on. I tried a Kenwood unit also with it's own harness and the unit will not turn on either. I know the two new harnesses and the head units are in working order so it has to be her car.

What should I try next? Should I just run a cable directly from the battery, run it through the firewall, and connect it to the head unit and run my own wiring to the speakers?

Thanks

Check the accessory fuses in the car.

step one. Fuses.

There should be two fuses for the radio. one under the hood and another under the drivers side dash.
