Thumbs up car alarm silly questions

Hi everyone,

This may sound very silly but I just bought my S2000 and it came with an alarm which has no instructions or brand and I have been trying to locate the actual box.

The alarm automatically arms when the ignition is switched off and must always be switched off using the remote prior to starting the engine. If the ignition key is even turned to accessories position, the alarm goes off. There is a bonnet switch but when armed, opening the bonnet does not set the alarm off. When armed, opening the doors does not set the alarm off. When armed, shaking the car does not set the alam off.
I think it may not be installed correctly or it does not have the boot or doors connected.

Under the drivers side there is a Valet button and a 3.5mm socket which has something to do with plugging in a 3.5mm plug (which I have with teh spare key ad remote). I do not know how the valet function works either.

I removed the plastic around the steering column and could see what looked like a relay and there is a box that looks liek a shock sensor as it is cable tied to th steeering column. Then the wires from thse two boxes are black taped and disappear amongst the factory wires. There is no alarm box to be seen? I even took out the driver side kick panel and no alarm bos here. I looked under the drivers seat and cannot see any alarm box.

Can someone please guide me where to look next ?

I know what an alarm box looks like as I have installed them before. I assume this is not some Honda alarm as the remotes have no name and they have two buttons.

Oh yes, while on the topic of actually dismantling th S2000, I looked at the forums and they keep directing everyone to http://www.lucidauto.com/
but that does not get anywhere?? I went there about 12 times and each click just returns it to the home page of that site . Does someone have a proper link to an article where soemone has step by step phtos of how to take the car apart (for alarms and stereos etc)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm sure you've already considered it, but your best bet would probably be to buy a new alarm system you trust and have the existing one ripped out.

Oh, and if you get a real alarm, get one that does more than make noise. The siren isn't going to scare off a real thief but it will make you the least popular person on the block.

Get an alarm that either notifies you or notifies someone else, like a monitoring company or the police. Ditch the siren.

Your neighbors and innocent bystanders aren't going to call the police for you. and when's the last time you heard a car alarm go off and thought "Oh my god! Someone's stealing that car!" False alarms and frustrated neighbors are the rule, not the exception.

Looks like the LucidAudio.com domain has expired and now has a placeholder page squatting the domain.

No wonder I could not find anything.

Yes changing the alarm completely would be a better option but I need to find this darn alarm box for the sake sanity so I can see what brand it is and where the hell they have hidden it.
