they also mention that you could steal the codes for the mobil' speedpass' and similar devices for gas

Frankly, I'd be more worried about my speedpass being stolen than the key's ID... you can do a lot more with the speedpass ID and do so with a high degree of anonymity. Not so when trying to steal a car.

You would have to place you keys 6 inches in order to get scanned. Than it would take them 2 hrs to crack the code. I don't think we should worry too much.
