CD Changer and P0607
Hi there everyone. I'm new to the forum as I just picked up my S2000 (2005) last week. Been eyeing them for years and finally pulled the trigger. SO EXCITED! Now, on to my issue...
The car came with a Kenwood head unit and a Honda OEM CD Changer mounted in the "secret compartment". The CD changer had power, but obviously no interaction with the Kenwood unit. I wanted to remove the CD changer so that I had that space available to use in other ways. So I removed it. However, the wire was permanently connected to the side of the cd changer. Not wanting to dive into taking the whole thing apart, I decided to cut the wire running to the cd changer.
As I cut the wire, I thought I heard a faint beep. I thought it was interesting at the time. The next time I started up the car, the CEL was on. So I went down to the local auto store, had them read the code, and turns out it's code P0607 (Control Module Performance).
I'm wondering if there's ANY chance that the cut wire to the cd changer could be causing the CEL error. And if so, where would I be looking to disconnect the CD changer? It can't be connected to the back of the Kenwood unit. Is it possible it's connected to a radio harness somewhere? Or someplace else in the trunk?
Thanks to all for your help.

Well I think I figured it out....I think that when I cut the wire to the cd changer, I zapped the "backup" fuse. The clock kept resetting itself when I turned the car off. Checked the fuse(which I had pulled numerous times in an effort to reset the CEL) and it was bad. Put a new one in, heard a beep (just like I heard when I cut the cd changer cord) which I hadn't heard when pulling that fuse earlier, cleared the CEL by disconnecting the battery, and voila!
So so essentially the CEL was on because there was no "backup" fuse present. Makes sense.
