Default CD player error

My cd player doesn't work. It says e-00. Can this problem be reversed without going to the dealership? -and I tried searching but, no offense s2ki, the search function is terrible.

thanks

A quick search on google seems to point out that the e-00 code is an "internal" error. Whatever that means. Most people who have gotten this error have ended up replacing the unit. However, it may be that the optics are dirty and need to be cleaned. I would try first using a cd player cleaner. They are only a few bucks and can't hurt. Then if that doesn't work, try disconecting it for several minutes to reset it and see what happens.

Worst case is that you take it in to be looked at by the dealer. If the car isn't under warranty, I think it is a waste. They will charge labor and price of a new radio. Might as well buy a nice aftermarket head unit.

On a stock radio E-OO displayed pretty much means the CD player is hosed. A used stock radio is cheaper than sending your current one off for repair. Most go with an aftermarket radio.
