CDA-117 and MM6501 Comments
SORRY, AFTER I WROTE THIS IS REALIZED MY SPEAKERS ARE MM6501 NOT MM651, THEY ARE NOT 2-WAY I had it wrong until I just edited my post...
I have had my system for a while and I thought I would comment on it. I have a 2005 S2000 and installed Polk MM651 speakers, Alpine CDA-117 head unit and Modifry wired DCI. The speakers installed with no trouble. The stock speaker baskets needed to go and the window clearance is only maybe 1/8" but they fit fine, the screws even lined up.
I used the $12 Modifry harness (not the PnP) and soldered the connections using shrink wrap to minimize the bulk of the connections. It took a little doing to get the wires in there but I installed it with no problem. I used a USB extension cord from the back of the head unit routed out the bottom side of the console by my right knee so I could plug in a thumb drive for music. I really like this, I used a black cord and my thumb drive is black and the drive just kind of "hanging" there doesn't even show very much. It is very handy and much better than plugging a thumb drive in the front panel (most head units have front USB connectors) and having to leave the cover open to clear it.
The sound of this combination is wonderful. I feel absolutely no need for an amp, even at 70 mph with the top down. The Modifry DCI works great and I love it. My one complaint, and it's a BIG complaint: The Alpine CDA-117 handles the wma files HORRIBLY. When first turned on it says "banking" forever, then when it is done it is VERY SLOW navigating through folders. It's almost so bad that I may get another head unit. My little $18 mpg player is instantaneous at doing this, why can't Alpine do a better job on this?

Interesting. My setup is CDA-105 + BT + Modifry DCI. I love the setup, but I need new speakers / amps / etc. The HU I have is decent with USB files from my USB stick. The one major complaint I have is it lists files from the FAT (table) sequentially, based on the order in which they were written. If I have album A B and C, but wrote them in order C B A, it will appear as C B A. As a result, it's advisable to either use a FAT table utility, or make sure the files are named in a way that forces the OS to write them sequentially.
