Default Getting headrest speakers with the stock head unit

Currently I have a stock MY01 head unit with Polk door speakers. I wanted to get an Alpine 9857 head unit, but I can't seem to justify spending the extra $150 over the 9856. What I decided to do is to wait until next spring, hoping the price of the 9857 will drop.

Now the next item on the list is the headrest speakers. I was thinking of going with these:

Will these make good headrest speakers? What would you recommend?

Most important. Can I skip the head-unit for now and just get the headrest speakers? I understand that the quality will pretty much suck until I get the head-unit, but at least I'll be able to hear my music. How would these connect to the head-unit? Would I have to hack up my wiring harness?

Yes all around. Just make sure you know what your plans are for mounting the speakers.

That's my question. Will I have to tear into the stock wiring harness, or does the OEM head unit support them?
