Default Ceiling light doesn't work

My interior light doesn't work when you open the door. It works fine when you turn on the lights either by the switch on the buttons. I have the modifry lighting mod if that matters... Also, during the summer some of the soldering melted from the heat and displaced a small piece on the mod... dont know exactly what it is but i soldered it back and it worked fine... but it just completely went out all of a sudden... why?????

thanks

HIGHLY doubtful the sun was able to melt your solder... standard Radio Shack style solder doesn't soften until about 425 degrees F... your whole car would have been toast The more likely scenario... it was a cold solder joint just waiting to break free, and enough vibration finally caused it to.

i thought of that... but when i got out of the car it worked fine... left the car in the parking lot for a couple hours... then when i went back it was on because the piece had moved and bridged two wires... so the solder must have softened? no clue....

but thats not my problem anymore! the problem is that the light doesnt work! help me!

I can practically guarantee the solder never softened. The heat may have contracted a wire or a piece of plastic, and THAT put everything back into working order, but the solder didn't soften.

Check the actual switch in the overhead... it may have gone bad.

Does it work when you open the other door? If it does, then look to the first door's switch grounding.
