Default Center console removal

This isn't strictly speaking an electronics question, but this seemed like the best forum to ask in as you guys are obviously adept at taking things apart and putting them back together again

I own a 2000 S2000.

Today I accidentally dropped a credit-card sized object inside the center console area behind the shifter (it slipped in the small crack behind the cup-holder while said holder was open).

Using a flashlight, I can't even see the object now but there seems to be a fair amount of space down there. My question is: does anyone have any pointers (or better yet pictures) on how to get into this area? I tried searching the forums but the search function seems to be busted.

I'm not an installation guru, but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty either, so any hints or suggestions are welcome. Also, if another forum would suit this question better please inform on where to go. Thanks!

The console is easy to remove. You just have to work your fingers under it and pull it up. There are 8 clips that hold it on. If you need to completely remove it you can remove the shift knob and slide it up and over. Also need to disconnect softtop switch and defog switch.

Thanks very much. Was just as you explained, and I got the card back.

These forums are great; I can see I'll have to return here when I want to upgrade the sound system.

well...I dont think he has a defog switch...wasnt that an option on the 02+ models only because of the glass rear window? Should be top and hazards switches. Yeah, I know I am a smart-a$$.
