I'd take a sony with S2kman's DCU over the alpine, just because it provides much more functions and you can even have S2kman program custom functions for you. I mean, the alpine does not even provide a skip back feature!!

You may want to consider reprogramming it....I need to hold donw the buttons for a fraction of a second longer than stock, but the difference is minimal for al intents and purposes.

What a coincidence -- I just stopped by my local sound store yesterday to see if I wanted to spruce up my car stereo, and talked to the sales guy about the controls. He wants to install some kind of IR device that can be hooked up to the controls, but that seems a lot more trouble than it's worth. If Alpine makes an adapter specifically for the S2000, that'd be great, as I pretty much decided on getting an Alpine stereo anyway... And I'll be in Europe in June, so if he can't order it in the US, I might just pick it up when I am over...

I'm looking at a model with a line-in option to hook up my iPod. Has anyone done something like this already?

Some additional info on the Alpine KCE-865B. Apparently it was made to work only with a particular model, so it may not work with just any replacement stereo... At least that's what I am being told by my audio sales guy, who called Alpine to get some information dierctly from the horse's mouth.

Buyer beware, I guess.

Hi mas,

the problem with S2KMAN's DCU is that he is apparently no longer selling them. My attempts to contact him via forum or email were fruitless. And I am really longing to get one.

seems to be a lot of discussion abt the Alpine HU etc. Any word on whether this HU works with the OEM CD changer? If you had to change your CD Changer, where did you mount it?

And is it true the DCU by S2kman is no longer for sale?

I'm hinking of upgrading my HU as well, seeking as much advice as possible

I have a MY2000 with the changer mounted in the boot in a bracket. I modified the bracket (made it 5mm wider) and mounted the Sony changer in the original spot. Fortunately the new changer (MP3 compatible) is exactly the same size.

Hi AusS2000,

are you referring to the 6-disc or 12-disc MP3 changer ?
