I was quoted for $300 WITH install at a local alarm/audio shop. Is this a good price? Or should I look for more options? Thanks for any help!

 

We call compustar compustop at our shop. VERY high defect rate. At least 50 percent on the remotes.

 

I install those all day long Thats my work. 300 Installed is a good price. Is this audio shop forcing you to lose a key or are they supplying a bypass module? And about the defect rate, Maybe 2 or 3 out of 10 there will be something but Compustar is aware of their faults and will replace what is not functioning. I say go for it

 

What would I need to lose a key for? I wouldn't be getting the remote start option with this...

Would you guys suggest opting for the Clifford?

 

Oh you're not doing remote start?? Ok then you dont need to lose a key. But eventhough I work on compustars all day long, I only put them on my winterbeaters just cause of the remote start option and the 2 way diplay part. On my S, nothing but Clifford. I find it to be a better unit and much harder to get by. I would be more intimidated if I was a theif by a Clifford over a compustar anyday

 

MB06, what do you retail similarly equipped Cliffords for?

and while i know both the Clifford and Viper are DEI, how do they compare?
