They are moving to the G5 system from the G4...at the moment the 6 series is the only one transfered over, but I have no idea what their plans are for the 7 and 8 series.

also i know it doesnt work on manuel trannys, but i was wondering how remote start works?

i mean you start the car from a ways away, then you reach the car. the car is already started so what do you just put the keys into the ignition? and restart the car? how does this work?

Remote start works on manuals, you just have to install a few safety features. These generally include some sort of pedal and key sequence before you leave the car.

You don't start the car up as you're walking to it, that's pointless. Remote start is perfect for cold climates...you can start the car, let it warm up, THEN go out into the cold towards a warm car.

rworne is right on...you put the key in the ignition and turn it to 'On' before it will let you go. Many also have a time limiter...if you don't go within say 5 minutes, the car shuts off.
