Default component fitment and amp selection

Hey Everybody,

I want to purchase an Alpine 9851 and Infiniti Kappa 60.5 CS components for the front for my 02 S2k.

Are there any fitment issues with the components before placing the order?

In a few weeks I will also purchase a sub and amp. I would like to buy an amp capable of running the components and an 8inch sub. If this sounds good enough I will probably just keep it this way. However I may want to add rear speakers. So the question is:

What amp would you recommend that is versatile enough to run the infiniti components and a sub at first, and then be switched later to run as 4 way with rear speakers? I would then buy another amp for the sub.

Thanks in advance!

I just noticed this on crutchfield. I almost never look at them because they are so expensive

MBQuart RAA4200 4x100(RMS) - $250

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-G3Byzw5lr6s/c...49RAA4200&g=120

I know I can use this to power my components with the front channels. Can I use the rear channels to power my one sub? (sorry if a dumb question).

What do you all think of thess amps? I know there speakers are great.

okay, so I've been doing a bit of research and I think that I'm not going with rear speakers. With that said I will just want an amp that can run a a good set of components and a single sub.

I may stick with the infinit 60.5 components or I may go with the perfects. What amp would you all recommend that would run my components and my sub? I'm aiming for a price point of under $350. I was looking at the alpine mrv450 which is capable of running in 3 channels. I would still consider the mbquart amp as well if it can run in 3 channels.

Thanks

I am pretty sure you need use a 5 channel amplifier. The amps that I looked:

JL audio 500/5
Directed Audio 1200/5

After a bit of research here is what I'm looking at now:

ALPINE MRV-F545. I will use in 3 channel mode to power the fronts and a single sub. $335

CDT EF61 components - $200

ALPINE 9851. $240

I'll add a sub later.

What are your thoughts? The CDT's have a mounting depth of 2.5 and a one inch tweeter, will I have fitment problems with these?

Can't comment on amps or anything, but I just installed the 9851 2 weeks ago. I like the HU, and the install was super easy. The metal brackets that hold the factory unit in, go right on the sides of the Alpine.

Speaker replacement and amp is phase 2.

pick out your speakers first and then match an amp to them. --->

find a sub before you choose an amp. It's going to be hard to find a decent sub that will run on 200 watts RMS imo. It's better to overpower your speakers and the 9851 offers you control over how much power you are going to run to the fronts vs. the sub. the fronts are rated at 130 watts rms and your amp is rated at 80.

it is far worse to underpower speakers than to over power them. this may seem counter intuitive but try to over power your speakers by about 33%.

i think you are going to need a more powerful amp.

A C2K 4.0X or a Reference 1000.4 would likely work well for you.

I should have mentioned what sub I wanted to use. I'm want to use a single JL Audio 10W3v2-D6 in a stealth box (trunk well).

I wanted to keep the price of my amp under $400 if possible, unless of course the only thing available for that price is junk.

How about something like the soundstream VGA400.5 which can run in:
200W x 2 + 400W x 1 at 4 ohm stereo. That seems like it would be more than adequate for most $250-$300 range components and enough for this sub.
